B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) Course:
DURATION: 4 Semesters
The B.Ed. programme shall be of a duration of two academic years, which can be completed in a maximum of three years from the date of admission to the programme.
B.A (Bachelor of Arts) Course:
DURATION: 3 years
KGIHE offers six Majors under B.A. Program (general disciplines):
• English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Education and Sociology
Under the Semestral scheme of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), a student must choose three of the above discipline for the first two years of their study, and in the final year, must choose any one of them as the major. To help candidates make informed decision, given below is a brief on each of the above subjects. Candidates are encouraged to explore more details on the scope of these disciplines from other sources. Please note that once the choices are finalized at the time of admission, students will not be allowed to change the combination.
Elective English: is a literature –intensive program. It introduces a student to Indian and international literature, literary criticism, linguistics, and reading prose, fiction, poetry, and drama. Besides giving proficiency in English, reading literature opens up to the beauty and terror of human existence and cultures one’s character.
Hindi: is a language discipline studies. While introducing the linguistics aspects of the Indian national language to the students it shall also introduce on the literature, literary criticism and reading prose, fiction, poetry, and drama. The proficiency in Hindi apart it shall open the avenues to the understanding the threads and expanse of the nation in terms of Hindi as a literary and cultural catalyst and prepare a student to be an effective educator.
History: is the compelling story of human beings and civilizations gone before us, learning from whom can help us shape our own destinies. While shaping the careers of future historians the curriculum includes history of ancient, medieval, and modern India as well as the world history, history of Northeast India with special focus on Arunachal Pradesh, and research methods in history.
Political Science: is the study of human governance and the analysis of political behavior of individuals and groups. It focuses on the theory, practice, and systems of politics as a distribution of power and resources. The curriculum focuses on political theory and thought, Indian and International political systems, foreign policy, public administration and international relations.
Education: is a social science discipline studies, the dynamics of which include –learning process, theories of learning, principles of curriculum development, significance of guidance and counseling ,educational measurement and evaluation, educational administration and planning. Essentially, it prepares a student to be an effective educator or a policy maker in education.
Sociology: is the study of social behavior or society, including its origins, development, organization, networks, and the institutions .It is a social science that uses various methods of empirical investigation and critical analysis to develop a body of knowledge about social order, disorder and change. It covers a basic definition of the field, identifies major themes or question studied by sociologist, and for the students it identifies possible careers in sociology.
